Erica Baltimore born in France (20-02-1979) from indonesian/Surinam/Guadeloupe background Photographer/Film maker Fiction/ Visual Artist graduated in 2006 from the School of Visual Art & Design ArtEz Arnhem the Netherlands department Fine Art, specialization autonomous photography. From 2007 freelance assignments for fashion, theatre, music and portrait photography. Since 2009 working and living in Amsterdam.
Erica Baltimore makes staged storytelling work which has the melancholia of a painting, the strength of theatre and the alienation and tension of film.

It fascinates her to make a portrait of a model which is on the one hand itself and on the other hand is isolated of its actual habitat .This tranformation can only be reached with a good balance between location, props, styling, make-up and clothing. Erica makes a photograph when a model is no longer aware of its own identity to the outside world and feels safe in their own made reality. On location there is much to plan, but some elements are unforeseeable and that is part of the game. It is a paradoxical antagonism fiction and reality, but memories have always been coloured by own experiences at a certain moment in life.
